Setting up a new class on Night Zookeeper

Welcome back! We hope you’ve had a great summer vacation and that you’re as excited as we are about the new school year! We’ve been working really hard this summer to add lots of new features and activities to the website! We hope you’ll enjoy the improvements with your students!

This blog post includes all you need to know to make a fast start with Night Zookeeper this year! Let’s get your kids up and running!

How do I create a new class group?

*The screen recording above shows you how to set up your new class group to start this school year.

What should students do first?

The students should head into their zoo when they first receive their new account. They will notice that all the other buttons on the menu are blocked until they have created their first magical animal in their zoo.

How can I send my first lesson?

If you used the Lesson Hive last year, then you’ll find all of your lessons within the ‘lessons tab’ at the top of your account.

If you’ve not yet created or sent a lesson, then please do watch the short video below which will guide you through the process.

What new features have been added?

As mentioned above, we have made lots of improvements to the website again this summer! You can take a look at this blog post for more details about what we have added and how the system has been improved.

What competitions can my students enter?

As usual, we have lots of fun competitions on the horizon for students to take part in! Here are just a few examples:

Weekly: Star Writing challenges with certificates up for grabs!

Monthly: Global, school and class writing leagues happen every month. These automatically reset and you can give out special awards for the winning student each month.

Special Events: Look out for the International Writing Cup this November. We’ll be sending details about this exciting competition very soon!

Do you have any back-to-school resources?

Yes! Our back-to-school resource pack is a great way to inject some Night Zookeeper creativity into your class to start the year! View the resource pack here!

We have also prepared some fun back-to-school lessons for you to send to your students. You can view and send them from here.

Are you visiting schools this year?

We’re very excited to be heading back to the U.S this year! Over the next few months, we’re aiming to visit as many schools as possible. If you’d like to get involved in our U.S. school tour, you can find out more information here.

What if my trial or account has expired?

If your website trial or account has expired, please do get in touch and we’ll give you a two week extension completely free! We’d love you to try out all of our new features with your class of students.

Email [email protected] to let us know that you’d like an additional trial to start the year!

For this Star Writing Challenge, we asked our young writers to create a short rhyming poem about staying positive and spreading love and hope. We also wanted them to create a piece of artwork relating to positivity and spreading love and hope. The winners of this challenge had the chance to have their poems and drawings featured across different hospitals and care homes to help make Key Workers’ and patients’ lives happier.
