World Creative Writing Month 2021

World Creative Writing Month is back for another year starting on March 1st. This exciting competition challenges children to write as many stories as possible throughout the month. The very best writing is showcased each week with prizes up for grabs!

How does it work?

Any child or class team with a Night Zookeeper account can take part in the competition. Simply, challenge your children and students to write as many creative stories, poems, and reports throughout March and their work will count towards their points total. They can track their progress throughout the month on our special World Creative Writing Month league tables.

When does the competition begin and end?

March 1st – March 31st 2021

Are there any special activities planned?

There will be special activities available on nightzookeeper.com throughout the competition. We have also created this special activity pack for you to download.

Are there any prizes?

Yes indeed! We’ll be awarding $50 in Amazon Book Vouchers to the top two competitors in the solo and class leaderboards. There will also be $50 in Amazon Book Vouchers awarded to the child and class team with the most writing on their Night Zookeeper account this March.

*Writing must be original work and produced between the competition start and end date.

How can I take part with my child or class?

If you already have a Night Zookeeper account, simply ask your child or students to begin writing on their account from March 1st.

If you’re new to Night Zookeeper, then you can register on nightzookeeper.com or send us an email to [email protected] to find out more about World Creative Writing Month.

Our New Look Animal Dens: All you need to know…

As you may have seen, we recently launched a new look for the Animal Dens (where each animal lives) in Night Zookeeper. This aims to make it simpler for your child to use and to give them more choice in the activities they do. However, we know that with any change, it can take a little getting used to so we’ve put this guide together to help anyone who is wondering how to use it. Don’t worry, all the same features are still there!

Earth Day Writing Prompts

Earth Day Writing Prompts

The Night Zoo is a very magical world indeed, but we want children to recognise the magic of the world they already live in. These Earth Day prompts were designed to try and do just that, by getting kids to engage with their imaginations and write creatively about nature, the Earth and the environment. Hopefully it will encourage them to think a little deeper about what the word “Earth” means to them, whilst developing the key skills they need to be a star writer.
